Frequently asked questions
What people ask us most. If your question is not here, write to us.
- What is Krokyu?
- Krokyu is an online digital health record for dogs, cats and other pets. It brings vaccines, visits, treatments, medications, weight, symptoms and documents together in one place, sends the matching reminders, and lets you share that history with a vet or a boarding kennel. It is an organisation tool: you record what your own vet told you.
- How much does Krokyu cost?
- The free plan is €0 for one pet, and creating the account asks for no card at all. Premium is €4.99 a month, or €49.99 a year. The Premium trial runs for 14 days and can be cancelled at any time; a card is required to start it, and nothing is charged before the 14 days are up.
- What exactly is in the free plan?
- One pet, the full record (vaccines, visits, treatments), unlimited push reminders, three email reminders a year, one emergency link a month, three lifetime OCR scans, three attached documents and five weight entries. PDF export needs Premium.
- Does the vet need an account to open the link?
- No. The link opens in a browser, with no account, no install and no sign-up. That is the starting point of the design: whoever receives the link has nothing to do.
- How long does a share link last, and can I withdraw it?
- You choose how long it lasts when you create it, and you can revoke it at any time from the pet's page. Revocation is immediate: whoever had it loses access at once. A link left alone expires on its own.
- Does Krokyu work for cats? And for exotic pets?
- Yes. Dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, birds and reptiles are supported, and an “other” category covers the rest. The record is the same whatever the species.
- Can I import a paper record I have already started?
- Yes. The OCR scan reads a page of a booklet or a vet report and proposes the entries it found; you check them before they join the record. The free plan includes three.
- Can I export the record as a PDF?
- With Premium, yes: the PDF holds the whole record, ready to print or send to a vet. The free plan produces no PDF, but it does let you download all of your data as JSON from your profile.
- Can I get all my data back?
- Yes, at any time and without deleting your account: your profile offers a full export in JSON, pets and history included.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Nothing is erased. Your account returns to free at the end of the period you already paid for. Pets beyond the first become read-only: they stay visible and readable, you simply cannot edit them until you go Premium again.
- Is there an app to install?
- Krokyu is a web app: it works in a phone or desktop browser with nothing to install. The iOS and Android apps are announced as coming soon. On iPhone, notifications only work once Krokyu has been added to the home screen — a Safari limitation, not a Krokyu one.
- Can I transfer a pet to a new owner?
- Yes. Every account has a six-character code, also readable as a QR. The transfer moves the pet's profile and its history to the recipient's account. It is separate from the official change-of-keeper declaration, which remains yours to file.
- Does Krokyu give veterinary advice?
- No. Krokyu makes no diagnosis, recommends no treatment and states no dosage. It is an organisation tool: you record and find again what your vet told you. It does not replace your vet, it helps you follow them better.
- Can I manage several pets?
- The free plan covers one. Premium has no limit, and each pet keeps its own record, reminders and shares.
- How is my personal data handled?
- You can export your whole account, and delete it from your profile. What we keep and why is set out in the privacy policy.
- How do I add a treatment?
- From your pet's page, open the Treatments tab and enter the name, dosage and dates your vet gave you. Krokyu then generates the reminders. We never suggest a dosage: you copy what was prescribed to you.
- My pet has died, what should I do?
- You can mark them as in memoriam from their page. Their record stays readable, but reminders and ongoing treatments stop immediately: you will not be notified about them again. Nothing is deleted: you keep their history for as long as you want.
- Why am I not getting my reminders?
- Three possible causes. Push notifications are included in the free plan; email reminders are capped at three a year there, and become unlimited with Premium. Your email provider may have reported an unsubscribe, in which case a banner in your profile says so and offers to reactivate. Finally, check your spam folder and that notifications are allowed in your browser.
- I can’t turn notifications on in my browser
- Two known cases look like a Krokyu failure without being one. On Brave, turning them on fails as long as “Use Google services for push messaging” is off under brave://settings/privacy, and it fails without any message at all. On iPhone and iPad, Safari only allows notifications once Krokyu has been added to the Home Screen: open the Share menu, choose “Add to Home Screen”, then turn notifications on from the app installed that way.
- How do I share the record with my vet?
- From your pet's page, create a share link. You choose what it exposes and how long it lasts. The link opens without an account, expires on its own, and you can revoke it at any time: whoever received it loses access straight away.
- How do I cancel my subscription?
- From your profile, “Manage my subscription” opens the Stripe portal where you can cancel in one click. Premium stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, then your account returns to free. Your data is untouched.
- What happens to my data if I delete my account?
- Your account closes immediately and becomes unreachable. Your data is erased for good 30 days later, attached documents included. During that window you can still ask us to reactivate it. You can also download your whole account as JSON from your profile, before deleting anything or without deleting at all.
